So, a water pump is a vital part, to all liquid cooled engines.

Because, it ensures the engine coolant, keeps moving through the cooling system.

As the coolant travels through the system, it picks up heat. The flow of the coolant, takes it to the radiator, where heat dissipates into the air.

As a result, the water pump helps the engine, maintain an optimum operating temperature.

So, a vehicle’s pump uses impeller blades, and centrifugal force, to move the engine coolant through the engine. Once that happens, it move on to the radiator. Then, the coolant is cooled, by the movement of air, over the radiator cooling fins. Next, it exits the radiator and flows back into the pump, where the process starts over.
