White Exhaust Smoke

White exhaust smoke can be normal condensation (like steam), especially in cold weather. But persistent, thick white smoke usually signals a serious problem, most commonly a blown head gasket, cracked cylinder head, or engine block. Consequently, allowing coolant to enter the combustion chamber and burn, often with a sweet smell.
