The Idle Air Control valve (IAC) regulates engine idle speed by controlling the amount of air bypassing the closed throttle plate. Then ensuring smooth operation and adjusting for load changes (like A/C) or cold starts. Malfunctions (stuck open/closed) cause high/low (RPM)s, stalling, poor acceleration, and hard starts, often flagged by a check engine light (CEL).
