Valve Lash

Valve lash, or valve clearance, is the small, necessary gap between engine valve train components. Things (like the rocker arm and valve stem) that allows parts to expand with heat without holding valves open, ensuring they fully close for proper compression and breathing. And are typically adjusted manually on solid lifter engines. But automatic on hydraulic lifters, with incorrect lash causing noise, wear, or poor performance.
