An Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve is an emissions control component that recirculates a portion of exhaust gases back into the engine’s intake. Consequently, lowering combustion temperatures to reduce harmful Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) emissions and improve fuel efficiency. It opens and closes based on engine conditions, controlled by the Engine Control Module (ECM) or vacuum.
